Isabel's Nursery Part 1 - The concept

With a new baby girl on the way, one of our first projects is to dress up her room before she arrives. The deadline is about four months away. That should be enough time, but I have no idea how much work this might take. It's unlike anything I've done before, so it's going to be an adventure to be sure.
The concept
First, we pick a theme. Or rather, Carol picks a theme, since I have no idea what a girl might like. She comes up with Hello Kitty, and since that's always cute and girly, it sounds like a fine idea to me. And a big bonus is that since I have some access to genuine Hello Kitty art at work, following the style should be a snap.Good. Let's go.
But where to begin?
The clean up
That's probably the easiest part of all. Somehow, we'd accumulated a bunch of miscellaneous junk in this room when we moved in (which we'd fully intended to stow away in its proper places once we made space). The funny thing is that we managed to clear it out without really having to make space elsewhere. Everything just sort of found a hiding spot. Like I said...easy.
Scope it out
By the time Isabel is born, the plan is to have all of her furniture set up and arranged. That means that if I'm going to decorate the walls, I need to do it somewhere that'll be seen. So we took the dimensions of Robbie's furniture (which is similar in size) and plotted out just how things are going to fit. Since Isabel's room is considerably smaller than Robbie's, it's going to be a tighter fit, but we figured out a nice arrangement. Now I can see where exactly I need to focus my efforts.
Get inspiration
Although I could probably get access to tons of Hello Kitty imagery at the office, I've decided against it. Not just because people have been dropping like flies at work lately and I don't want to give anyone a reason to look my way, but because I also scored an old calendar and sticker sheet (thanks, Remi!), which have some great examples of the Hello Kitty style. That and we picked up some stuff from the Sanrio store at the Galleria and at, of all places, Target.
