Yesterday I finally did it. I took the plunge and bought an Xbox. I initially had to think twice about it, but I eventually came to the conclusion that I couldn't go without the awesomeness that will be Halo 2.
Actually I had made up my mind a couple of months ago, but when Microsoft announced that they'd be selling the Xbox, two games and two months of Live for the same price of a box alone, I decided to wait it out. As long as I got my console before Halo 2, I'd be all set. Here's my philosophy with Microsoft: I don't want to give them my money, but if I have to, I'm going to get as much out of it as I can.

So here I am. All I need now is a headset (any recommendations?) and the most anticipated game of all time. Since there were so many pre-orders, I won't be getting my Limited Edition on November 9 as most will, but within the following week. While that's a little disappointing, it won't take away from the game one bit. I plan to completely play through the single-player campaign before touching multiplayer--unless someone convinces me otherwise. I hate to think that I might be in the middle of a match when someone starts talking about plot points and giving away spoilers. Ooh, that would not be cool. Not at all.
For the record, when Microsoft announced that Xbox Live was going to be a subscription-based service, I was skeptical, but after playing PS2 games online, I can say that the Xbox definitely has a much better execution. Everything feels linked together, whereas with Sony each game has it's own implementation. The only thing I don't like is that you can't change your handle on Xbox Live.
So consider me a Xbox owner, gamer and now enthusiast, at least for the time being. I've got enough gripes with Sony to make me think I might never buy any of their products again. So that leaves me with Microsoft for now.
